Talk at BiblioCon 2026
At the 114th BiblioCon in Berlin (May 19–22, 2026), OASA project members gave a talk on the evolving landscape of scholarly publishing and the existing gaps and needs in shaping the open access transformation. OASA’s project goal – the development of scenarios for the open access transformation – was presented to a broader public for the first time.
Poster at openCost Conference 2026
At the Navigating Cost Transparency conference organized by the openCost project in Hamburg from March 17 to 19, 2026, OASA, together with the open-access.network, Transform2Open and OA Datenpraxis projects, presented a poster titled Pursuing the goal of cost transparency alongside openCost, illustrating how the projects are working toward the shared goal of cost transparency.
Events and Dialogue
Upcoming: 2nd workshop on scenarios for the open access transformation
A second workshop on September 29, 2026, at the Open Access Days 2026 in Linz will provide another opportunity to discuss possible scenarios for the open access transformation. Interested members of the open access community are invited to critically examine the scenarios, refine their plausibility, scope, and comprehensiveness, and reflect on their implications for different types of institutions. The feedback will be directly incorporated into the further development of the scenarios within the OASA project. At the same time, participants will gain a deeper understanding of possible future paths of the open access transformation and its financial implications, and will be able to apply insights and prospective issues from the project and the scenarios to their own institutions.

1st workshop on scenarios for the open access transformation
During an initial workshop in June 2026, various possible scenarios for the open access transformation in Germany were discussed together with invited experts from German research institutions. The interactive format was designed to incorporate the diverse experiences and varied ideas of external stakeholders into the discussion and further development of the scenarios within the project.
Informational event for data-providing organizations
At the informational event Shaping the Future – Open Access Scenarios and Financial Development Prospects on June 11, 2026, the project and its goals, as well as the OASA data schema, were presented. The process for submitting data to OASA was explained and demonstrated in a live demo.
